2013 BMW I3 Concept Coupe

The BMW i3 Coupe Concept is starting to look much less like a concept, and more like the electric-powered production car we've been told will arrive late next year. While the dashboard remains slightly left of reality, with its tablet-style instrument readouts and swoopy streak of wood trim, the overall design and layout of this 3-door hatchback appears pretty much ready to roll off a production line. We like the side glass, and how it dips downwards slightly before being pinched at the rear C-pillar. The gloss black rear hatch is also a nice touch, but we expect this to revert to body color for production models. The big news, of course, is the lithium-ion battery pack that powers the i3 Coupe. With a total output of 170-bhp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, BMW estimates the i3 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 8 seconds. Driving range is pegged at 100 miles on a full charge. No word on pricing, though we think something in the region of $35,000 to $40,000 (before factoring in any Federal or state incentives) sounds feasible.
